Alexandra is much more than anything we could have provided the kids in
Bulgaria. In addition, this was the first "international"
experience for most of our kids, and in this sense the experience of a
completely foreign culture was a real education for them. Camp
Alexandra provided a variety of supervised activities for the kids each
day, including pony rides, kayaking, hikes, and plenty of time to swim in
the sea and in the camp's own wonderful pool. In addition, the camp
provided a day-trip to Thasos Island; -by bus to Kavala, and then by
30-minute ferryboat to the island. There were three full,
nutritious, delicious meals a day with snacks in-between, and each day
ended with a fun "disco" for everyone. Lodging was
provided in modern, roomy bungalows. Camp
Alexandra and the trip to Greece was simply an exhilarating experience for
our kids. They returned well rested, but beaming from the whole
experience. They will certainly never forget it. We took lots of photos for them so they can remember the

From
24-29 August, 2004, thanks to the generosity of numerous donors and
sponsors, OSI-Bulgaria took 8 of our Dupnitza kids to "Camp
Alexandra" (www.alexandra.gr) on the northern shore of the Aegean Sea
in Greece (see map below).
As different
as the culture is, Alexandra in Greece is only about a 6-hour bus
ride from Dupnitza.
